One of the nation’s largest corporate superannuation funds, the $8bn Qantas Super, has made a major foray into ESG investing by backing an Asian Qantas Super in ESG play focused on sustainable building innovation and technology.
Qantas Super, the not-for-profit fund that has been managing the retirement savings of Qantas staff since 1939, has joined a string of big name global investors and property groups in backing the Taronga Ventures’ built environment technology fund known as RealTech Ventures I.
Taronga targets investments in companies active in property technology or proptech, construction technology, mobility, infrastructure, energy and sustainability, as well as data and the internet of things.
The new fund will invest directly in companies and support them through introductions to key decision makers within its investor base throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
