Groundfloor™ optimised delivery management at Scape student residences with smart lockers and software for efficient, staff-free parcel handling
6,500
staff hours saved annually
1.1 kg
CO₂ saved per delivery
24/7
secure parcel access for students
Zero
failed deliveries across properties
Background
Student accommodation operators face growing parcel volumes, with a single 750-bed property receiving over 15,000 deliveries annually. Manual handling burdened frontline staff and led to inefficiencies in courier drop-offs. Scape aimed to modernise this system across selected properties in Sydney and Melbourne to enhance operational efficiency and student satisfaction.
Solution implemented
Groundfloor™ deployed its delivery technology across six Scape properties, including four smart locker banks and four Concierge Collect stations. Lockers were installed at key entry points to support direct courier deliveries from major providers. For overflow or large parcels, Groundfloor™’s software enabled staff-assisted collection. Automated SMS alerts, secure 24/7 access, and an intuitive platform streamlined the entire delivery lifecycle.
Outcome delivered
The implementation drastically reduced staff workload, saving over 6,500 hours annually and virtually eliminating failed deliveries. Couriers now deliver without delay, reducing congestion and saving carbon emissions—1.1 kg of Scope 3 CO₂ per successful delivery. The intuitive system elevated both resident experience and operational productivity, with strong feedback on design and support from Scape’s technology team.
