Real-time vital
signs monitoring
Critical life-saving alerts
Privacy-centric tamper-proof design
Reduced operational expenses
“From the moment we integrated Xandar Kardian’s radar-based sensors, we observed a transformative impact on our operations. Within the first 48 hours, the technology detected a critical, potentially life-threatening condition in one of our detainees, enabling our staff to intervene just in time. This incident alone exemplifies how essential such innovative monitoring solutions are in a custodial setting. They are not merely enhancing our operational efficiency; they’re crucial in safeguarding human lives. This technology ensures we are equipped to handle emergencies with the urgency and care they require.”

Pierre Beauchesne,
Staff Sgt.,
Regina Police Service
Background
The Regina Police Service faced significant challenges in monitoring the health and safety of detainees, particularly in detecting and responding to medical emergencies. Traditional methods were inadequate, leading to delayed responses and increased risks of health complications or fatalities.
Solution implemented
The Regina Police Service installed Xandar Kardian’s advanced radar-based sensors in select detention cells. These sensors monitor vital signs such as heart and respiration rates without physical contact, alerting staff to any abnormalities that indicate distress or medical emergencies.
Outcome delivered
The technology has been instrumental in improving the safety and responsiveness of custodial care. Notably, the sensors likely helped to save a detainee’s life shortly after installation by detecting critical respiratory issues and alerting staff, enabling timely medical intervention by onsite staff.
