ASSET IMPACT FAQS
WHAT TYPES OF SOLUTIONS IS ASSET IMPACT LOOKING FOR?
Asset Impact is seeking applications from technology companies focused on the real asset sector offering 1) Climate & ESG, 2) AI & Advanced Data Analytics, and 3) DeepTech & Advanced Materials solutions. These solutions must have the ability to deploy across one or more asset types in real estate (e.g. office, residential, retail, industrial), infrastructure (e.g. energy, transport, water) and/or alternatives (e.g. data centres, healthcare).
WHO ARE ASSET IMPACT’S PARTNERS?
Asset Impact has partnered with leading real asset owners, developers and operators through relationships in the Taronga Ventures global network. These groups partner with the program to access emerging technologies that can impact their underlying assets and portfolios.
HOW DO PARTICIPATING COMPANIES GET CONNECTED TO PROGRAM PARTNERS?
RealTechX’s team will connect program companies with relevant teams within our program partner organisations. RealTechX will make these connections on a case-by-case basis, as mutually requested by both program companies and partners, and will support both parties to work towards initial pilot projects.
DO COMPANIES PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM RECEIVE INVESTMENT?
Funding opportunities are explored individually with each company before, during or after the program. That said, program participants are not guaranteed investment from Taronga Ventures. Historically, more than half of participants in previous programs have become part of Taronga Ventures’ portfolio, often as a result of demonstrating good strategic alignment through the program.
DO PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO COME FROM A SPECIFIC GEOGRAPHY OR COUNTRY?
There is no requirement for companies to come from a specific geography. Our previous applicants represent 40 countries globally. In general, we look for companies with an ability to support customers in Asia Pacific (inc. Australia) or a demonstrated interest to expanding into the region.
IS THE PROGRAM IN PERSON OR ONLINE?
Program sessions and introductions to RealTechX’s partners will be held online, as participants are expected to come from multiple different geographies. However, there will be an in-person showcase event to conclude the program, typically held in Sydney or Singapore, and participants should try to attend on a best endeavour basis. The showcase is expected to take place in October or November 2025.
WHAT COMPANY STAGE ARE YOU SEEKING FROM A FUNDING PERSPECTIVE?
RealTechX will select companies to participate in the program based on the demonstrated impact of their solutions (i.e. not based on investment stage or minimum revenue requirements). As guidance, we expect most participants will have raised a series A round or later and typically have revenues between US$500,000-$5,000,000 over the last 12-months. However, we have invited earlier stage companies with high-conviction technology solutions to participate in our past programs.
HOW DO YOU SELECT WHICH APPLICANTS WILL PARTICIPATE?
RealTechX has a 3-stage selection process: 1) application screening, 2) application review and 3) participant selection. In 1) application screening, applications are reviewed for eligibility, based on relevance of solution to the program and its partners, and only eligible applications advance. In 2) application review, applications are scored by the Taronga Ventures and RealTechX teams against a number of performance factors and a shortlist is selected. In 3) participant selection, RealTechX and our program partners conduct further company and customer reviews, including interviews, commercial reviews and references checks, before selecting and inviting the final group of program participants.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT FOR THE PROGRAM?
RealTechX is a 6-month part-time program. The next cycle of the program will run from May to October 2025. Participants will be required to attend six to eight 1-hour program sessions and engage in any introductions to customers or partners RealTechX may make. Participants are required to commit to the entire program, to attend scheduled sessions held online and, on a best endeavours basis, to attend an in-person showcase to conclude the program. RealTechX will work with participant companies to identify the right company representatives to attend sessions and meetings. A full program schedule will be provided on being invited into the program.
Program dates may be adjusted by RealTechX at its absolute discretion.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PROGRAM?
After the scheduled program, the RealTechX team will work closely with participants for a further 6-months to support the delivery of opportunities that have come out of the program. Participants will then become part of the RealTechX alumni network and will be invited to participate in ecosystem events and to assist future RealTechX participants to be successful. From time to time, RealTechX will continue to make introductions to potential customers and partners for past program companies.
